Shreyas Iyer is a strong and aggressive batsman who can play both classic shots and powerful hits. In 2015, Delhi Daredevils signed him for Rs 2.6 crore (about US$416,000) in the IPL auction, and he made a big impact by scoring 439 runs that season.

His outstanding performance earned him the IPL Emerging Player of the Year award. Over the next six seasons, he became a key player and captain for the team, consistently scoring over 400 runs per season four times.

Iyer started his cricket journey in the Under-19 ranks, making a notable contribution in the 2014 World Cup playoffs with back-to-back fifties. His first-class debut for Mumbai came in the following domestic season. After starting in the middle order, he was moved to the opening position and became the team’s top run-scorer with 809 runs at an average of over 50.

The following Ranji Trophy season was exceptional, with Iyer amassing 1321 runs at an impressive average of 73. He also scored a century in the final, helping Mumbai secure their 41st title.
