The Indian Premier League, or IPL 16, will enter its 16th season in 2023. The Board of Control for Cricket in India established this T20 cricket league. The Tata Group will be the IPL’s title sponsor in 2022 and 2023. The IPL schedule has been released, and it will run from March 31 to June 2, 2023.

T20 cricket’s excitement and entertainment are set to begin in the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League 2023. According to data obtained from authorised sources, the IPL will begin on March 31, 2023, and the final game will be played on May 28, 2023. The IPL 16th season, also known as the Tata IPL 2023, will feature a total of 74 matches, with all matches taking place in India’s 12 different stadiums.

The Tata Indian Premier League 2023 will feature a total of ten participating teams. The Gujarat Titans, led by Hardik Pandya, won the IPL title in their inaugural season. The journey of the IPL will begin on March 31, 2023, in Ahmedabad, with the first match between four-time champion CSK and reigning champion KKR. Every weekend will feature two doubleheaders, whereas weekdays will only feature one. The afternoon matches will begin at 7:30 PM IST, while the daytime matches will begin at 3:30 PM.

Broadcasting Rights of IPL 2023

In June 2022, the BCCI leased the television rights for the 2023 to 2027 editions for 48,390 crores ($6.1 billion), making the event the world’s second richest and most lucrative after the NFL. Star Sports extended its broadcast agreement, and the Viacom18 group completely secured the streaming rights. JioCinema will stream all IPL 2023 matches, while Star Network will broadcast all matches on television.

When Will IPL 2023 Start?

The BCCI has released the IPL 2023 schedule on 17 February 2023, which will have a total of 10 teams playing a total of 74 matches at 12 venues. A total of 70 league matches and 4 playoff matches will be played in these 74 matches. All these matches will be played at a total of 12 venues in India, including Ahmedabad, Mohali, Lucknow, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Jaipur, Mumbai, Guwahati, Dharamshala. In this, a team will play a total of 14 matches, in which 7 matches will be played in the home stadium and 7 matches will be played in the stadium of the other team. This means that a team will play two matches against the other team, in which one match will be played at its home stadium and one match will be played at the home stadium of the other team.  

According to the IPL schedule, the first match of IPL 2023 will be played on 31 March 2023 between Chennai Super Kings and Gujarat Titan at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad and its last league match will be played on 21 May 2023 between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru to be played. After this, a total of 4 playoff matches will be played, in which the final match of IPL 2023 will be played on Sunday, May 28, 2023.

When will the Women’s IPL start from 2023- Apart from the same IPL, BCCI has started the Women’s Premier League, in which 5 women’s teams will play. For this, the BCCI has announced a confirmed date, according to which the Women’s Premier League will start from March 4 and its final match will be played on March 26. A total of 22 matches will be played in this.

IPL 2023 auction was held in Kochi on Friday, 22nd December 2022, in which all 10 teams of IPL 2023 participated and now after that all 10 teams bought a total of 80 players. A total of 80 players were sold for Rs 1,67,00,00,000 in the 2023 IPL auction. This time the demand for all-rounder players was the highest in the IPL auction, after which most of the all-rounder players were bought. The most expensive players of 2023 also include the name of an all-rounder and this player has also become the most expensive player in the history of IPL.

Chennai Super Kings, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Lucknow Super Giants and Sunrisers Hyderabad have 25 players after IPL 2023 auction, besides Kolkata Knight Riders have 22 players, Mumbai Indians have 24 players, Punjab The Kings consist of 22 players.

IPL Teams in 2023

All of the squads competing in the upcoming IPL 2023 are divided into two groups, A and B, and each club will play 14 group matches. Each team will play one match against a team from the same group and two matches against a team from the other group. The following teams are taking part:

Chennai Super Kings

The Chennai Super Kings will compete in the IPL in 2023, led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Stephen Fleming as head coach. India Cements Limited owns the CSK club, which was founded in 2008. CSK reached the final of the IPL last season but failed to win the title, finishing as runner-up. In addition to having the best win rate (58.98%) among all IPL clubs, the Super Kings have won the league championship four times in 2010, 2011, 2018, and 2021. The Delhi Capitals, which are jointly owned by the GMR Group and the JSW Group, will compete in the 16th IPL season with Ricky Ponting serving as their head coach. The Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, which has a seating capacity of 55,000, is where the squad plays its home games. Delhi Capitals took fifth place in the points standings during the most recent IPL season. Delhi played a total of 14 games in 2022, winning 7 of them, however failing to do so prevented them from making the playoffs.

Gujarat Titans

The CVC Capital Partners-owned Gujarat Titans will compete in the IPL in 2023 with Hardik Pandya serving as captain and Ashish Nehra serving as head coach. Lucknow Super Giants

The Raghu Iyer-owned Lucknow Super Giants will compete in the Tata IPL 2023 with KL Rahul serving as captain and Andy Flower serving as head coach. Lucknow participated in 15 matches during the most recent IPL season, winning 9 of them while losing 6 of them, finishing in third place overall in the points standings. The Super Giants call the BRSABV Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, which has a seating capacity of 50,000, home.

Mumbai Indians

The Mumbai Indians, the IPL’s most notable and successful franchise since 2008, will compete in the competition under Rohit Sharma’s direction. They hold their home games at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. The Mumbai Indians have won the IPL five times, but their most recent campaign was not enjoyable for them as they finished last in the standings. Only 4 of their 14 games saw them come out on top, giving them a winning percentage of 28.57.

Punjab Kings 

Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta, and Karan Kaul presently control Punjab Kings, which was founded in 2008. Shikhar Dhawan served as the Kings’ captain during the most recent IPL season. Punjab will compete in 2023 under Dhawan’s direction and with Trevor Bayliss serving as head coach. In 2022, the club had a 50% winning percentage but could only win 7 out of its 14 games.

Rajasthan Royals

Sanju Samson will serve as captain for the Rajasthan Royals, who won the IPL’s first championship in 2008, while Kumar Sangakkara will serve as their head coach. Royal Challengers Bangalore, a United Spirits-owned team, will compete in the IPL in 2023 with Faf du Plessis serving as captain and Sanjay Bangar serving as head coach. The club’s chairman is Prathamesh Mishra, while Soumya Deep Pyne is in charge of managing the team. The squad finished third in the points standings the previous year. RCB has not been able to win the IPL championship once since the league’s establishment, and they are still looking for their first IPL victory.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

Sunrisers Hyderabad will compete in the IPL 2023 with Brian Lara serving as their head coach. Simon Helmot will serve as an assistant coach and be in charge of teaching spin bowling. By winning three of its 14 games during the IPL 2022, the club moved up to the eighth spot in the standings.
